Delving into Best Practice; A Case & Evidence-Based Approach

This seminar will present and discuss strategies for the integration of best-practice procedures, evidence based practice, documentation, ethics and quality assurance techniques for the provision of powered mobility and power seat functions. The presentation will include video and photography of Rhonda Clark throughout the wheelchair assessment process.

 
Learning Objectives

Through the use of case-based and evidence based learning, upon completion of this workshop, participants will identify:

  • Elements of the durable medical equipment and service delivery process
  • Stages of the wheelchair assessment process
  • Concepts of seating and positioning as related to posture and functional mobility
  • Current evidence for the documentation and justification of seat functions including seat elevation, tilt/recline, elevating leg-rests, and standing
  • Strategies to promote the field of Assistive Technology & Mobility Assistive Equipment through effective documentation and outcome measures
  • Advocacy and ethics in today’s service delivery process

Rhonda Clark

Rhonda Clark, an inspiring motivational speaker draws on many experiences from her own life to inspire others. Throughout her life she has beat the odds…and has so far overcome every obstacle that has been in her way. Being born with Cerebral Palsy she wasn’t supposed to live 48 hours…she did.

Rhonda’s story is one worth hearing and will be the featured advocate presented in this seminar.
