X850 on Dartmoor
Joe Bennett and other youngsters and staff from the Nancealverne School, Penzance in Cornwall, took on the famous Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge across Dartmoor on the 14th May 2011.
Joe who is 16 years of age and whose wish it was to complete this years event was joined by more than 300 other young people with disabilities and learning difficulties from around the UK.
Joe completed the challenging moorland trek on an X850 supplied especially for the event by Permobil UK. He said he was delighted to have been able to enter and complete the event along with his team mates and to collect his award/medal and 60th anniversary Ten Tors certificate for completing the course.
Permobil spent the day with Joe and his school friends out on the moorlands, it really does bring home how determined these young people are to have as full and active a life as any other able bodied teenager.
We respect all of the work and assistance that the families and support staff give of themselves to help these young people to achieve their goals.
