Permobil is proud to present the work of Heather Feldner, Teresa Plummer, & Alyson Hendry. This is an interdisciplinary guideline based on peer-reviewed literature and validated consensus statements from over 40 clinicians and caregivers that provides critical strategies and suggestions for clinicians working with powered mobility.
"A Guideline for Introducing Powered Mobility to Infants and Toddlers" can serve as an evidence-based resource for all team members involved in the provision of assistive technology and powered mobility. The incorporation of language, communication, physical, social and somatosensory strategies provide a training approach founded on evidence and then supported by clinical expertise.
Please pay additional attention to the appendices of the guideline, which offer practical tips for early intervention with power mobility. This guideline may serve as a clinical roadmap for introducing "On Time" power mobility to pre-verbal and non-verbal, premotor infants with a unique approach at directing training efforts.
