Meet Valaria

Valaria is a vibrant 9-year-old girl from New Hampshire living with cerebral palsy, which significantly affects her mobility and posture. Despite her active spirit and supportive family, her previous mobility equipment, including a manual wheelchair and basic power scooter, was inadequate for her needs. She struggled with mobility, sitting balance, and participation in school and home activities.
Her condition includes spasticity, postural asymmetries, and visual impairments, requiring extensive support for safe and functional movement. Her clinical team identified the need for a more advanced mobility solution that could address her medical, functional, and psychosocial challenges.
The introduction of the Permobil F5 Corpus VS power standing wheelchair marked a transformative shift in Valaria’s daily life. Equipped with dynamic seating functions and a specialized cushion for posture and skin protection, the new system enabled her to stand independently, reposition herself, and engage more fully in activities. Over six months, her therapists observed improvements in tone, reduced discomfort, and increased participation in school and social settings.
Valaria now integrates standing into her routines without prompting, enjoys greater independence, and has shown enhanced mood and confidence. Her story highlights the profound impact of tailored mobility interventions on pediatric users with complex needs.
