Permobil releases 2024 Sustainability Report highlighting key developments

Permobil has published its annual Sustainability Report covering 2024, detailing significant progress in sustainability initiatives, user quality of life metrics, and workplace safety standards.
Introduction of Uptime as a Quality of Life Indicator
Permobil has introduced "Uptime" as a new quality of life metric. This indicator measures the availability and reliability of power wheelchairs, supporting user independence and functionality. Uptime reflects the percentage of time a power wheelchair is operational and available to the user, providing insights into product reliability and performance. This focus aims to enhance user independence and mobility.
Sundsvall Site: A New Standard for Inclusive Workplaces
The report includes a case study on Permobil's new global innovation center in Sundsvall, Sweden. Operational since September 2024, this facility represents a significant investment in the region. It combines production and research & development, featuring accessibility adaptations and sustainable features such as a geothermal energy system and solar panels. The facility is designed to be highly accessible, accommodating individuals with various disabilities.
Health and Safety Achievements
Permobil's commitment to safety is reflected in its health and safety record. In 2024, all four Permobil facilities in the U.S. reported zero lost time accidents. This outcome is the result of dedicated efforts to enhance workplace safety through established protocols and a culture of safety. The company's approach includes investments in ergonomic improvements and a strict policy towards unsafe behavior.
