The Panthera Assistant Brake allows a caregiver or a companion to both push and brake the wheelchair, providing convenience, stability, and safety for both the user and the caregiver.

The assistant brake should always be accompanied by anti-tip devices for optimal safety and stability.

The assistant brake is mounted together with the old standard rear axle. Using the old standard rear axle makes the S3 series wheelchairs 8 mm lower at the rear.

To combine the assistant brake with armrests for wheelchairs in the S3-series, you need Armrest 26” to avoid the tires touching the armrest’s side guard.

The maximum user weight on a wheelchair with an assistant brake mounted is reduced to 100 kg, for models with a user weight of 150 kg. Otherwise, the wheelchair’s user weight applies. 

For backrest height 25 - 30 cm, the assistant brake kit uses the standard push bar and for backrest height 35 - 40 cm, a lower version is used. This is so that the brake wires allow the push bar to be removed from its attachments during transport. We believe that the push bar provides an ergonomic working height for people up to approximately 185 cm tall. If a higher push bar is desired, the standard push bar can be ordered for backrest height 35 - 40 cm by specifying this in the order. NOTE! Be aware that it is not then possible to disassemble the push bar during transport and that the brake handles will not be mounted on the push bar upon delivery.
