Each entry in the Edison Awards is reviewed by a panel of more than 3,000 senior business executives, scientists, and academics, and judged on these four award criteria: Concept, Value, Delivery, and Impact.

Permobil collaborated with leading experts to design the Explorer Mini and to create a solution for this critical period when mobility and cognitive abilities develop in toddlers. Explorer Mini is the only Class II prescription-only medical device that has achieved FDA regulatory clearance for this age group. Yet, it has a toy-like appearance appealing to young children and their families.  

 In 2021, Explorer Mini was also recognized as a TIME Best Invention as one of the top 100 products/services solving society’s greatest issues.
