Permobil introduces Comfort Unite back support

Unite 2 Diamond Spacer Exploded View

Nashville, TN | February 2, 2026 – Today, Permobil announced the launch of Comfort Unite, a new back support line created to make it easier for clinicians, users, and providers to achieve the right fit, support, and comfort – no matter their seating and positioning needs.

Built by combining the trusted technologies of ROHO and Comfort, Unite is designed to simplify clinical decision making, reduce setup complexity, and offer users a more personalized and supportive seating experience from day one.

A simpler path to the right support

The Unite line offers five streamlined configurations, created to help clinicians quickly match the right level of contour, adjustability, and support to each individual. Instead of navigating multiple legacy products, clinicians and providers can now choose from a lineup of back supports that adapts to a wide range of postural presentations:

  • Unite 1 – Minimal contour
  • Unite 2 – Medium contour
  • Unite 3 – Maximum contour
  • Unite 1 Wing – Minimal contour with added wing support
  • Unite 1 LTS – Minimal contour with integrated lateral thoracic support

“Unite is about giving clinicians and users greater clarity and confidence when choosing a back support,” says Todd Walling, President of Permobil Americas. “It simplifies the process while raising the bar on performance and adjustability – all in service of creating better outcomes for the people who rely on our seating solutions every day.”

Designed with users and clinicians at the center

The development of Unite focused on creating a solution that is easier to set up, easier to personalize, and easier to adjust over time. By integrating the benefits of ROHO air technology with Comfort’s proven moldable stays, the line gives clinicians more ways to tailor support around asymmetries, changing needs, or growth – often without removing the user from their chair.

“Comfort Unite reflects a commitment to meeting users where they are – whether they need straightforward support or more complex postural shaping,” says Jennifer Gray, Senior Commercial Product Manager. “The result is a back support that’s simple to understand yet powerful in its ability to adjust as needs evolve.”

What users, clinicians, and providers can expect

  • Built-in personalization: ROHO air inserts and Comfort moldable stays available on standard configurations
  • Adjustability without disruption: In chair contouring allows shaping and refinement while the user remains seated
  • Faster, easier setup: Compass Hardware comes standard for quick installation and intuitive depth, height, and angle adjustments
  • Broader compatibility: Suitable for most manual and power wheelchairs, including new direct mount options for Permobil power bases
  • Enhanced durability and comfort: Updated covers and foam configurations for improved long-term performance
  • Advanced pressure management: Optional full neoprene ROHO inserts for users needing a custom pressure redistribution solution

Streamlining the portfolio to focus on what matters most

To make it easier for clinicians and providers to navigate the seating and positioning lineup, Permobil is also simplifying its portfolio:

  • The ROHO Agility Max and Comfort Acta back lines will be discontinued
  • Acta Embrace and Acta Relief have received updated foam inserts and newly designed covers and will now be known as the Comfort Embrace and Comfort Relief

These changes ensure Permobil continues to offer a clear, modern, and clinically relevant seating portfolio while maintaining support for existing users.
